LG expressed its strategic interest in bolstering collaborations with Meta Platforms to expedite its XR ventures. Both companies aim to combine their strengths across products, content, services, and platforms to drive innovation in customer experiences within the burgeoning virtual space.
During the meeting, the focus was on business strategies and the development of next-generation XR devices. Cho, who tested Meta’s Quest 3 headset and Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, showed interest in Meta’s large language models. LG envisions creating a distinctive ecosystem in the XR domain by bringing together Meta’s platform with its content and service capabilities from its TV business.
Zuckerberg also planned to meet with Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong to discuss cooperation in AI, memory chips, and XR businesses. Meta has unveiled plans to develop its own Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) and design a new AI chip. Samsung, on the other hand, has established a new AGI research and development unit in Silicon Valley.
